PrimeCo was a wireless telecommunications company that operated in the United States from 1994 to 1999. It was a joint venture between three companies: Bell Atlantic, Nynex, and AirTouch Communications. PrimeCo was one of the early providers of wireless phone services in the US and was known for its high-quality service, expansive coverage, and innovative phone offerings.
The company offered cellular phone services in regions of California, Texas, and Florida. It also provided paging and wireless data services. One of the most popular phones offered by PrimeCo was the Motorola StarTAC, which was one of the first clamshell-style phones.
In 1999, PrimeCo was acquired by Verizon Wireless, and its operations were merged into Verizon's network. Today, PrimeCo branded cell phones are no longer available, and the company's legacy is remembered as one of the early pioneers of the US wireless market.
